I joined BSF on 23/06/2015 as IG and on 13/12/2016 I was assigned the responsibility of Western Command manning of Western Front of India’s Border as Additional Director General . It is a singular honour to be given this opportunity to serve in Border Security Force and heading the five Frontiers and five training institutions.
The Headquarter Western Command has been mandated for Border Guarding on Pakistan and has to look after Kashmir, Jammu, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat Frontier and also to keep Liaisons with army and state police for better co-ordination. Serving western in most challenging conditions, BSF lives up to its reputation of "First Line of Defence" with a spirit of diligence, professionalism and highest standard of discipline. Our premier Subsidiary Training Centre at Hamama Kashmir, Udhampur, Kharkan Punjab, Jodhpur and Chakur Maharsahtra are imparting training to our Border guarding force.
At the outset, I pay homage to our valiant comrades who have made the supreme sacrifice for the Nation. We are indeed duty bound to look after the welfare of family members of our Martyrs.
The charter of BSF bestows great onus that needs to be shouldered without any compromise on standards of performance the Nation expects. Our administrative work is also multi-dimensional and challenging, requiring utmost sincerity and great levels of Integrity, transparency and probity.
Welfare of BSF personnel will be the top priority in my plan of action. Special impetus will be on re-strengthening basic infrastructural needs of BSF at Frontiers. I exhort all men in the chain of command to initiate and maintain healthy inter personal relations. Sincere and persistent efforts in grievance redressal will nurture the confidence of ranks in their seniors, which is the key to success in generating required synergies.
New initiatives in modernizing and capacity building of the force are already underway. The future is bound to demand constant changes in our organization, in our administrative system, in our recruitment process and in our training. We should gear up to become a truly modern, responsible and dependable Arm of the Union. It will be our collective responsibility not only to usher in progressive as well as futuristic concepts but also to carry forward the innovative changes in consonance with the strides already taken.
I am sure in the times to come, we will be meeting all the challenges in the best possible manner to serve the Nation following our motto"JIWAN PRAYANT KARTAVYA".
